FAQ

Q: How do I choose a fountain?
A: This depends on your goal: aeration, aesthetics, or both. For aeration or both, we recommend our Aerating Fountains due to their high flow rates. For aesthetics, consider the various display options and ensure your pond meets the minimum depth requirements and that the display size is appropriate.

Q: How do I choose the horsepower?
A: The horsepower determines the spray pattern size. Ensure your pond meets the minimum depth requirements for the chosen horsepower and that the spray won’t splash the pond's sides. For ponds a quarter acre or larger, choose based on desired appearance and budget.

Q: Do I need to hire someone to install my fountain?
A: If you don't have a power source by the pond, consult a licensed electrician. Fountain installation is straightforward and many customers install their own to save money. Fountains float in the pond, anchored on two sides, and connect via a submersible cord to the power source.

Q: How do I choose between 110-120V and 220-240V?
A: If your power source is more than 70 feet from the main breaker, choose 220-240V to ensure ample power. Verify that your power source can handle higher voltage to avoid inconsistent operation.

Q: Are lights included automatically?
A: Lights are not included but can be purchased with the fountain or later. They simply snap onto the floating unit and are highly recommended.

Q: Why is the power cord so expensive?
A: The cost is driven by the materials used. Depending on the fountain, the power cord is made from 14-gauge to 4-gauge copper or stainless steel wire.

Q: Can my fountain be left in the water during winter?
A: Scott Aerator Fountains can operate through winter. They should be run continuously or shut off entirely during winter months. Once the water thaws, simply turn them back on.

Beautiful & Functional

I've been considering one of these for years, I'm happy to know that it's well built and has a pretty efficient motor so we run it all day during certain months.
